The United Arab Emirates turns 45 this year and the celebration is as grandiose as ever. This day marks the UAE’s Union Day between the six emirates which was followed by the joining of the seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah, in 1972. Celebrations are happening in every corner of Dubai not to mention the 3-Day National Super Sale which further amplifies the festive mood among Emiratis, expats and tourists.
I then decided to go to The Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence last night to catch the fireworks display and celebrate the national day with a bang. One of the highlights of the night was this corner over here. These were assembled to resemble the UAE flag using empty plastic bottles in an attempt to break the Guinness world record. It was so well-made you wouldn’t even notice that they were made of bottles so kudos to the organizers and congratulations for a successful event. I also have a “national day shirt” on as part of being one with UAE’s celebration.
